Our Labs

The Wu group is equipped with a variety of instruments for multistep organic and inorganic synthesis and analysis, compound purification, structure elucidation and analysis of multiple properties. Besides the below listed machines, the Lehn Institute of Functional Materials & School of Chemistry at Sun Yat-sen University, opens possibilities to access an even wider range of spectroscopies, microscopies and other methods such as EPR, time-resolved fs spectroscopy, TEM, AFM and many more in collaboration.

NMR spectrometer

600 MHz Bruker Avance NMR spectrometer with different probe heads, temperature control unit and sample changer. A range of further NMR spectrometers up to 700 MHz is available in the department.

Mass spectrometer

High-resolution Ion Mobility-ESI mass spectrometer Bruker timsTOF with HPLC and syringe pump infusion, glove box connection and cold spray ionization (cryo ESI) source.

Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC)

GPC LaboACE LC-5060 Plus II (Japan Analytical Industry) with columns for different organic solvents is a high-performance gel permeation chromatography system designed for precise molecular weight analysis and distribution characterization of polymers and related materials. 

GPC purification is usually the last purification step for organic ligands before applying them in metal-mediated self-assembly.

Microscope

Leica M205C is a high-end stereomicroscope featuring FusionOptics technology, enabling high-resolution, large-depth-of-field imaging for advanced biological and materials research.

The Mettler Toledo XSR105DU is a high-performance dual-range semi-micro/analytical balance designed for demanding laboratory environments.

Capacity & Readability: Dual range of 41 g / 120 g with readabilities of 0.01 mg / 0.1 mg.

Eppendorf Centrifuge 5804 is a high-speed, medium-capacity benchtop centrifuge designed for clinical and research laboratories. Handles tubes and bottles from 0.2 mL to 250 mL, plus microtiter and deepwell plates. Reaches a maximum speed of up to 20,913 × g (14,000 rpm).
